On Thursday, Nov. 5, 2020, Chief James Heavey announced Det. Daniel Bucci has been appointed as sergeant.

Bucci is a graduate of the University of Central Florida. He graduated in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, said Greenwich Police Capt. Mark E. Zuccerella.

He was hired as a Greenwich Police Officer in April, 2011 and promoted to the rank of detective in September of 2017. He has also served as a field training officer, where he was responsible for training and mentoring the department’s new officers, Zuccerella said.

Bucci is a POSTC certified instructor in defensive tactics, handcuffing, baton, OC, and human trafficking.

He is one of the Greenwich Police Department’s Women’s Self Defense program's lead instructors, which teaches women in the community invaluable tactics to protect themselves in dangerous situations.

The newly minted sergeant was awarded Officer of the Month and an Investigator’s Ribbon in March of 2019 for his work in solving a multi-jurisdictional ATM burglary spree, the captain said.

His investigation helped to close 12 additional cases across the state. Bucci has also received several recognitions for his involvement in other investigations and assistance at medical scenes.

“Sgt. Bucci is a mentor and leader for many of our younger officers at the Department and has been an example of service and fairness for them to follow,” said Greenwich Police Chief James Heavey
